Ben Konop Is At It Again

I've had a run in with this fellow before...and CoinGate seems to be his obsession. Now he is running for Lucas County Commissioner and is screaming to anybody who can hear him, which in this case is the notoriously liberal Toledo Blade (where it is still all CoinGate, all the time), that his opponent hasn't returned funds that Tom Noe donated to his campaign. As is the modus operandi with Konop, you will find that the real story is a whole lot less sinister as even the Blade had to report:
Mr. Sarantou received contributions from Noe in 2001, 2003, and 2005 that totaled $700, according to the Lucas County Board of Elections' records examined by Mr. Konop.

Mr. Sarantou said he consulted with the Ohio Ethics Commission, the Ohio Elections Commission, and the Lucas County Prosecutor's Office last year about whether the contributions should be given to a charity or the bureau.

Prosecutor Julia Bates urged him to hold off on returning the donations until the criminal cases ended and the proper recipient could be identified, Mr. Sarantou said.
Mr. Sarantou is doing the right thing. But Mr. Konop just can't let that get in the way of a good campaign's what he does. And should he lose his race, expect to see yet another editorial in the Toledo Blade involving black helicopters and dark lords of the GOP Sith...
