Yesterday, Republican nominee for Ohio Attorney General Betty Montgomery added four more newspapers to her long list of endorsements. The Akron Beacon Journal, Zanesville Times Recorder, Coshocton Tribune and Chillicothe Gazette have all chosen Montgomery as the better candidate for Ohio Attorney General.
The Chillicothe Gazette pointed to Montgomery's record as making her the better choice in this race. "It's Montgomery's steadiness and competence in her prior stint as attorney general that tips the scales in her favor," editors noted.
Both the Coshocton Tribune and the Zanesville Times Recorder also noted Montgomery's record, calling her the "clear choice" for Attorney General. "When it comes to the state's top law enforcement officer, voters should look for experience and temperament to weigh their choice. Given those guidelines, it's clear that voters should return Betty Montgomery to the job she held for eight years," editors determined.
While commending Montgomery for her experience, editors from these two publications expressed concerns about Marc Dann's past, saying it "makes him a less than desirable candidate."
"He can dance around the reasons all he wants, but a lawyer who was censured by the Ohio Supreme Court two years ago for mishandling a spousal support case is a poor choice for attorney general," Tribune and Times Recorder editors stated. "Montgomery, on the other hand, has a 32- year record of service to the Buckeye State. Unlike Dann, she has experience prosecuting criminals."
The Akron Beacon Journal noted Montgomery's plans for the future in its endorsement stating, "Montgomery sounds genuinely energized about returning to the attorney general's post. She talks about focusing on Medicaid fraud and Internet predators, two worthy priorities."
Montgomery was honored to receive her latest endorsements. "With just two weeks remaining until Election Day, it is encouraging to have opinion makers from across the state support my candidacy," she said.
Montgomery's extensive list of endorsements now includes:

Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association (CPPA)
